Selling Old Armies on eBay

I have many iterations of my Blood Angels army. It is time to get rid of one of them. I've listed my first Blood Angels army for sale. I wasn't sure if I should individually list the units, or sell it as one single lot, so I decided to list them individually. If you want anything in particular please let me know. These models are old, but they still have a certain amount of charm. I especially like my death company jump packs. Those were fun to make. If you have any advice or tips please let me know. I have very little ebay selling experience. Maybe I should toss my Mint-crons and tau on it as well.

  1. Excellent! I find selling off old models to be a mix of painful and cathartic, best of luck with the auctions!

    1. I'm looking forward to it. Do you normally sell things individually or as a single army? I think I might have made a mistake by listing units separately.

    2. I generally try to sell an army as one big lot initially and let it run for a few weeks. If nobody bites, then I'll break it into units and relist that way.

It's easier to get ten people to spend 50 bucks than one person to spend 500, after all!

  2. John, you could always list as entire army with a date to sell a few before the individual auctions end, if it sells, cancel the other listings?

Would you sell to UK? I want your Grey Knight Dread, a John S original... ;)

    1. I'm happy to sell to the UK, especially to you. You've been offering comments and encouragement for years! I haven't figured out how to calculate shipping to the UK yet. I think this could ship in a small box. Do you have any idea how much shipping might be? Have you bought from the US before? I'd like to make this work for you.

    3. John mate, just let me know how much once you post and I can send it via PayPal or something? Or do via eBay, usually a small box is done by weight, up to 100g is £4.45 so $10 should cover it?

  4. Fair play. Always sad to see an army having to go like that chief.

    1. I think it is ok. I have two other Blood Angels armies that were successors to this one. This was my first army post heart surgery though, so it really brought me back into the game. I might be alone in this, but I loved the simplicity of the PDF list.

  5. I've done both as an army and individual units. I was scarred by the sale of my Space Wolves as they went to a reseller who immediately relisted them as individual units. Keep your buy it now prices high to avoid attracting the resellers if you want your guys to go to a good home. Keep an iconic model or two to help ease the pain.

    1. Thanks! Once this lot is gone the 2nd blood angels army will go up. I have some Chaos to work through as well. I suppose it would make more sense to paint over the models and bring them up to my current standard, but I feel like a clean slate is more important for me right now.
